How you can help promote the IAWTV Awards and give something to your fans
Why do we create original web series? Why do we produce episode after episode of our shows? This is your chance to tell the world why you do it and help to promote the IAWTV Awards along with the IAWTV and DBG.
Here is what you can do. Make a video about why you do what you do. Why did you produce your series? What got you started, what do you hope will come out of it? In 30 seconds, tell your story in a video called “Why I Do What I Do” and ask your fans to tune into the IAWTV Awards on January 12th, 2011.

1. Contest Period. IAWTV Awards “Why I Do What I Do” Promotional Video Contest (“Contest”) entry period commences January 2, 2012 at noon Eastern Time (“ET”) and ends on January 9, 2011 at noon ET (“Contest Period”).
2. Sponsor and Administrator. DBG is the sponsor of this Contest. IAWTV is the Administrator (“Administrator”) of this contest and is responsible for the collection, submission or processing of entries and the overall administration of the Contest. Entrants should look solely to IAWTV with any questions, comments or concerns related to the Contest by emailing promovideo@iawtv.org. By participating in the Contest, each entrant unconditionally accepts and agrees to comply with and abide by these Official Rules and the decisions of the Contest officials (including those of the Sponsor and IAWTV), which shall be final and binding in all respects.
3. Eligibility. This Contest is open to persons over 18 years of age as of the start of the Contest Period with a Youtube and Twitter account in good standing. The Contest is void in any territories and possessions wherever prohibited or restricted by law. Contest is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws.
4. Submittal of Entries. To submit an entry (each, with video and all other required information, an “Entry”) for the Contest, create and upload a video of a maximum of 30 seconds in duration that explains why you do what you do (for web series creators) and why you watch what you watch (for fans of a web series), includes the following information, “Celebrate the best in web TV at the IAWTV Awards on January 12, 2012 at 9pmET/6pmPT at youtube.com/iawtvorg” and “Thank you DBG for promoting this video.” Your uploaded video must be titled either “Why We Do What We Do” or “Why I Watch What I Watch” and the link to video on YouTube tweeted to @iawtvawards. All videos must be submitted by the end of the Contest Period to be considered.
There is no limit on the number of Entries that you may submit. Each Entry submitted by an entrant must be significantly different from any other Entries submitted by that entrant. Entries generated by script, macro or other automated means and Entries made by any means which subvert the entry process will be void.
Use of Entries: BY PARTICIPATING IN THIS CONTEST, EACH ENTRANT UNDERSTANDS THEIR VIDEO ANDS ITS CONTENT MAY BE USED IN THE PROMOTION OF THE IAWTV AND THE IAWTV AWARDS IN COMMERCIAL, PROMOTIONAL, EDUCATIONAL, PRESS AND OTHER MATERIALS AT THE DISCRETION OF THE IAWTV. BY PARTICIPATING IN THE CONTEST, EACH ENTRANT ACCEPTS ALL USAGES ASSOCIATED WITH THEIR CONTEST ENTRIES. IAWTV and each of their respective designees may exploit, edit, modify, adapt, publish, and distribute the Entries and all elements of such Entries, including, without limitation, the names and likenesses of any persons and/or locations embodied therein, in any and all media now known or hereafter devised, worldwide, in perpetuity without compensation, permission or notification to Entrant or any third party.
By submitting an Entry, entrant acknowledges and agrees that Sponsor may obtain many Entries under this Contest and/or other contests staged and/or sponsored by the Sponsor, and that such Entries may be similar or identical in theme, idea, format or other respects to others submitted under this Contest and/or other contests sponsored by the Sponsor or submitted for other reasons, and entrant waives any and all claims entrant may have had, may have, and/or may have in the future, that any Entry and/or other works accepted, reviewed and/or used by the Sponsor may be similar to his/her Entry.
Entry Guidelines -
a) Entries must only the entrant and may not include other person(s).
b) You hereby represent and warrant that: (1) all materials included in your Entry (collectively, the “Entry Material”) are wholly original to and created by you, and have not been copied in whole or in part from any other work (2) the Entry Material is your exclusive work and performance and does not infringe upon or otherwise violate the copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity or other proprietary rights of any third party; (3) you have the full and exclusive right and authority necessary to submit the Entry Material in this Contest without permission from or payment to any third party; and (4) you meet all the eligibility requirements and you have not engaged in any of the disqualifying activity and are in compliance with these Official Rules.
c) You further represent and warrant that the Entry Material submitted does not include music of any kind, brand names or visible trademarks or mention or feature any product or brand other than those of Sponsor and/or IAWTV.
d) Entries must not, by word or action, be satirical, sexually explicit or suggestive; unnecessarily violent or derogatory, promote alcohol, illegal drugs, tobacco, firearms/weapons (or the use of any of the foregoing); promote any activities that may appear unsafe or dangerous. Entries also must not otherwise shed a negative light on the products or services of any company, including Sponsor or any of the other Contest Entities or any Released Party (as defined below), or any other person or entity.
e) You are under no requirement to purchase any product in connection with the Contest.
f) Any Entry which in the sole opinion of Sponsor and/or Administrator is deemed inappropriate and or violates these Official Rules will be disregarded and the Entrant may be disqualified.
g) Submitted videos must not contain any personal identification.
h) Entries must not contain copyrighted materials owned by others (including photographs, sculptures, paintings, and other works of art or images published on or in websites, television, movies or other media).
i) Entries must not contain materials embodying the names, likenesses, voices, or other indicia identifying any person, including, without limitation, celebrities and/or other public or private figures, living or dead and/or contain look-alikes of celebrities or other public or private figures, living or dead.
j) Entries must not communicate messages or images inconsistent with the positive images and/or good will to which Sponsor and IAWTV wishes to associate.
5. Winner Selection. All Entries will be reviewed and by the Communications Committee of the IAWTV to determine eligibility. The Entry with the highest video views in each category “Why I Do What I Do” and “Why I Watch What I Watch” according to YouTube video view metrics shall be deemed the potential Grand Prize winning Entry. In the event of a tie, the tied Entries be reviewed by a tie-breaking judge who will determine the winner(s) based upon a review of the comments and ratings. IAWTV reserves the right to award fewer than the stated number of prizes and/or not to award any prizes if, in its sole discretion, it does not receive a sufficient number of eligible and qualified Entries. All prize awards are subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with these Official Rules.
6. Winner Notification. The potential winners will be notified through YouTube and Twitter by the IAWTV.
The potential winners will be required to sign and return an affidavit of eligibility and release of liability and any Video Releases, if applicable, (collectively, the “Contest Documents”) within five (5) business days of receipt of the affidavit form. In the event that IAWTV is unable to contact a potential winner within a reasonable time period, in the event of non-compliance with the response deadline or these Official Rules or if the prize, Contest Documents or Prize Notification is returned, refused, or returned as undeliverable, and Sponsor is unable to contact a potential winner within a reasonable time period, then the prize will be forfeited and an alternate runner-up winner may be selected from the remaining eligible Entries using the judging procedure and criteria set forth above.
7. Privacy. All entrants acknowledge that if they are chosen as a winner, certain of their personally identifying information may be disclosed to third parties as required by law. IAWTV will not share any of the personally identifiable information collected from entrants with any third party except solely for purposes related to the fulfillment and delivery of prizing to be awarded in the Contest or with a particular Contest Entity if entrants have expressly opted-in to receiving promotional email communications from that particular Contest Entity.
8. Contest Prizes:
One (1) Grand Prize (1) – An Apple ipad 2 (16GB Wifi) with an ARV of US $500.00.
Two (2) Runner Up Prizes (2) – Roku 2 XS with an ARV of US $100.00
General Prize Conditions. Limit one (1) prize per person and per household. Prizes cannot be transferred, redeemed for cash or substituted by any winner. IAWTV reserves the right in its sole and absolute discretion to award a substitute prize of comparable or greater value for any reason. Prizes are awarded “AS IS” and without WARRANTY OR GUARANTEE OF ANY KIND, either express or implied by IAWTV (including without limitation, any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose). Acceptance, participation in and/or use of the prize is at the winner’s sole risk and the Released Parties (as defined below) are not responsible for any damages whatsoever, including special, indirect, or consequential damages, arising out of or in connection with the use and/or misuse of such prize (including any travel or activity related thereto). The ARV of each prize represents IAWTV’s good faith determination. That determination is final and binding and cannot be appealed. If the actual value of the prize turns out to be less than the stated ARV, the difference in prize value will not be awarded. All prize details are at Sponsor’s sole discretion. All federal, state and/or local taxes, fees, and surcharges and any other costs and expenses associated with prize acceptance and use not specified herein as being provided are the sole responsibility of the winners. Failure to comply with these Official Rules will result in forfeiture of the applicable prize.
9. General Conditions: Each entrant agrees that: a) any and all disputes, claims, and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Contest, or any prize awarded shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and solely and exclusively in a federal or state court located in the State of New York (without regard to choice of law rules); entrant submits to sole and exclusive personal jurisdiction to said courts in the State of New York, for any such dispute and irrevocably waives any and all rights to object to such jurisdiction; b) any and all claims, judgments, and awards shall be limited to actual out of pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with entering this Contest but in no event will any entrant be entitled to receive attorneys’ fees; and c) under no circumstances will entrant be permitted to obtain awards for and entrant hereby waives all rights to claim punitive, incidental and consequential damages and any other damages, other than for actual out-of-pocket expenses, and any and all rights to have damages multiplied or otherwise increased. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE LIMITATION OR EXCLUSION OF LIABILITY FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, SO THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
Except where prohibited by law, each winner grants, and agrees to confirm such grant in writing (and parent/legal guardian if entrant is an eligible minor), permission for the Contest Entities and their respective advertising and promotional agencies, and those acting under their authority to use such winner’s name, photograph, voice, image, biographical information, and/or likeness, performance, and submission and/or Entry (including its display, reproduction and distribution), for use in any and all media and formats now known or hereafter discovered throughout the universe in perpetuity, without notice, review, approval, or additional compensation, including but not limited to promotional, advertising and/or publicity purposes in connection with or referencing the Contest. Entrants further agree (and parent/legal guardian if entrant and/or winner is an eligible minor) that the Contest Entities and each of their respective parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, licensors, divisions, prize suppliers, printers, distributors and each of their respective officers, directors, independent contractors, representatives, agents, shareholders and employees (collectively, “Released Parties”) will have no liability whatsoever for, and shall be held harmless by Entrants (and parent/legal guardian if Entrant is an eligible minor) against, any and all liability for any injuries, loss or damage of any kind to persons, including death, or property damage resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from acceptance, possession, misuse or use of any prize (including any travel or activity related thereto), participation in this Contest, or while traveling to, preparing for or participating in any Contest related activity or a Released Party’s use of the rights granted herein. Released Parties make no representation or warranty concerning the appearance, safety or performance of any prize awarded. Restrictions, conditions, and limitations apply. Released Parties will not replace any lost or stolen prize items.
10. Conduct: These Official Rules will be posted on http://iawtv.org and http://iawtvawards.org throughout the Contest Period. IAWTV reserves the right at each of its sole discretion to disqualify a entrant if it finds that entrant, or an individual acting with the approval of or in concert with a entrant, to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Contest or any website; to be acting in violation of these Official Rules; or to be acting in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner, or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person and to void all associated Entries. CAUTION: ANY DELIBERATE ATTEMPT BY AN ENTRANT OR ANY OTHER INDIVIDUAL TO DAMAGE ANY WEBSITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE CONTEST IS A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES ANY OTHER REMEDIES (INCLUDING ATTORNEYS’ FEES) FROM ANY SUCH PERSON TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
11. Limitations of Liability: Released Parties are not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by website users or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Contest or by any technical or human error, which may occur in the processing of Entries in the Contest. Released Parties assume no responsibility for any misdirected, garbled, stolen, incomplete, inaccurate, delayed, late or lost emails, Entries, mail or prize notifications, misdirected, late, lost, stolen or damaged prizing, or any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of Entries. Released Parties are not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer on-line systems, servers, cable, satellite or providers (including Internet Service Providers), computer equipment, software, failure of email or digital players on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website or combination thereof, or other errors or difficulties of any kind whether human, mechanical, electronic, computer, network, typographical, printing or otherwise relating to or in connection with the Contest, including, without limitation, errors or difficulties which may occur in connection with the administration of the Contest, the processing or judging of Entries, the determination of the winners, the cancellation or postponement of any episode filming, or in any other Contest-related materials. Released Parties are also not responsible for any injury or damage to entrants’ or to any other persons’ computer related to or resulting from participating or downloading materials in the Contest. If, for any reason, the Contest is not capable of running as planned, including, without limitation, infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes which corrupts or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Contest, then Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest. In the event of a dispute concerning who registered online to participate in the Contest, the registration will be declared to have been made by the authorized account holder or the email address submitted at the time of registration and such person must comply with these Official Rules. The authorized account holder is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an email address by an internet provider, online service provider, or other organization (e.g., business, education institution, etc.) that is responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted email address. An entrant may be requested to provide Sponsor with proof that such entrant is the authorized account holder of the email address. If a dispute cannot be resolved to Sponsor’s satisfaction, the Entry will be deemed ineligible.
