Letter from the Chairman
Dear Academy Members:
On October 19th, the International Academy of Web Television held its first annual member meeting and prospective member meeting in Los Angeles. It was an opportunity to communicate both the organization’s mission statement and goals. I was truly delighted by the turn out and dialogue at each meeting. Thank you to everyone who was able to attend.
We are beginning to create something great with the IAWTV. The enthusiasm is there. The desire is there. The creativity is there. Now we need action.
What can I do to help?
Most importantly, we need you to join the IAWTV as a member, which you can easily do by completing the online application. Once you are a member, you can join one of our many Peer Groups or sign up to be a peer-group Governor.
The Academy will only be as good as the collective efforts of its members. So, if you are truly interested in helping us build the IAWTV into a world-class organization, here is your opportunity.
With every new member that joins the IAWTV, we strengthen the online entertainment industry. Here is why:
- Most people don’t really know that there is a community of creative content professionals dedicated to building the Internet as their primary distribution platform. It is important for our industry to define and communicate its image to the public at-large.
- Our primary purpose is to advance original video programming on the Internet.
- We will create meaningful Peer Groups that connect professionals in our industry.
- We will develop and refine best practices for production and distribution of original online video.
- We will coordinate outreach on legal and social issues that impact our membership and industry.
- By judging the the Streamy Awards, we recognize the highest standards of achievement in online video and, in turn, we showcase to the larger public the best our industry has to offer.
In addition, please check out the many membership benefits of becoming an IAWTV member. We will be announcing shortly our next member meetings as well as the date for the 2nd Annual Streamy Awards.
We look forward to working with you to build an organization that truly reflects the kaleidoscope that is web television. Please don’t hesitate to contact me or other IAWTV board members with questions or comments you may have. The deadline for 2010 membership is January 15th, 2009.
Thank you for trailblazing with us.
Sincerely,
Michael Wayne
Chairman of the Board
